It's our centennial in 2011. Visit our partner website for all the details: www.merritt100.com
The City of Merritt is located in the beautiful Nicola Valley, at the intersection of the Coquihalla Highway and Coquihalla Connector. It is a great place to live and visit, work and play, and our City Council is committed to keeping the mission statement a reality:
“The City of Merritt is a progressive, attractive, economically viable city that is socially responsible and environmentally sustainable.”
The City of Merritt has been rated for hazard and risk vulnerability. Flooding, wildfire and major structure fires identified as our highest risk. Our emergency planning is focusing on the identified risks, assessment, readiness and response.
The key to our success will ultimately be determined by the efforts of each homes assessment and preparedness for emergencies. There is a critical question to ask regarding your home and family; are you ready. The (PEP) Provincial Emergency Program website has some valuable information available to assist homeowners in preparing for their security in the event of emergencies and we encourage you to visit that site to gather and use the information your feel is of use to your family.
The City Centre Board proposes the following locations for placement of benches in the City Centre. Benches will be provided through the City Memorial Recognition/Community Enhancement Program.
For further information regarding this program, please contact Larry Plotnikoff, Leisure Services Manager, City of Merritt.
